    You can see the opportunities. The business is ready for more advanced use cases. You have smart people. The tools are capable. 

    But legacy design decisions keep dictating what is possible. 

    Common examples: 

    • Data models and definitions are hard to extend 
    • You cannot easily add new dimensions without reshaping everything 
    • Dependencies are so tangled that change feels risky 
    • You have to choose between speed and correctness, every time

    Modern tools can help, but tools do not replace design. Without solid patterns, ownership, and extensible modeling, new tools often just make it easier to create more one-off builds.

    • When a new use case appears, do we extend existing patterns or build something new? 
    • Can we change pipelines without fear of breaking unrelated reporting? 
    • Do stakeholders self-serve confidently, or do they wait on the data team? 
    • Are definitions easy to extend, or do changes create downstream chaos? 
    • Is our time to insight improving as we scale, or getting worse?

    If you are seeing the same friction repeatedly, it is likely not a team speed issue. It is a structure issue.
