A global workforce training organization with operations across the EU and Asia Pacific needed a secure, scalable remote desktop solution. CleanSlate implemented
AmazonWorkSpaces to deliver a consistent, policy-compliant virtual desktop experience using Microsoft Windows 10 and Office365.
The solution allowed seamless access to applications and shared drives while ensuring compatibility with the existing tech environment. The implementation included automation of patching and updates to reduce operational overhead. As a result, the client now has a secure, globally scalable virtual desktop infrastructure with low support demands.
What Had to Change
With global locations that spanned both the European Union and Asia Pacific, our client needed a remote access solution to provide access to internal systems for their global workforce.
The remote access solution needed to enforce strong security and while also providing a consistent user experience and ease of support. Global users would need the ability to access applications and utilize both user and network file shares.
Finally, it was essential that the new solution was compatible with the existing corporate technology footprint and could seamlessly scale to accommodate additional future users.
How CleanSlate Responded
- Working together with the client, CleanSlate led the design and implementation of Amazon Workspaces virtual desktop solution. The virtual desktop was designed using Microsoft Windows 10 and Office365 to provide remote workers with a familiar desktop experience.
- Additional productivity software and customized configuration were included in the standard desktop image to accommodate specific business and corporate security policies.
- CleanSlate’s Cloud Architect and Engineers collaborated with the client’s DevOps and infrastructure team to complete the design, testing, and implementation. This approach ensured that knowledge transfer of the new solution was complete.
- Finally, it was important to ensure that ongoing support and operation of the solution was in place, so CleanSlate implemented the automation of patching and application updates to simplify support and reduce the operational footprint of the solution.
What Changed
The client now has a Virtual Desktop solution to ensure their global workforce is connected and productive in a secure manner. The solution provides the ability to quickly and securely provision workstations for remote staff, contractors, and other knowledge workers with minimal time and resources required from the supporting operational team.
